Jurassic World is a 2015 American science fiction adventure film directed by Colin Trevorrow. It is the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park series. The film stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, B. D. Wong, and Irrfan Khan. It has been a mega hit across the world mopping up $1.526 billion upto now. Its popularity means that it has been a choice of torrent pirates and has been the top downloaded torrent since it appeared on the torrent websites. But little did Universal know that it was helping the pirates cause by hosting the seeding on its own servers. Upon noticing the issue, the security team of Universal Pictures filed a takedown notice with Google on 15 July under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Google acknowledged the DMCA complaint and blocked websites and links allegedly hosting or linking to pirated copies of Jurassic World. Among the block requests was a link to “https://127.0.0.1:4001/#/fr/”. The Internet Protocol address “127.0.0.1” is typically reserved to describe the “localhost” or machine on which a program or user is operating. This indicates the pirated copy of the movie was being hosted within Universal’s own computer network. The program likely found a file being linked to from outside Universal’s network on its own computers, meaning that Universal was seeding pirated copies of its own movie. Earlier in the year, Universal Pictures had requested Google to remove the Internet Movie Database page listing its film Fast & Furious 7, despite it hosting no infringing content.
