According to Spanish (Catalan) newspaper ARA, Spanish police claimed they arrested Phineas Fisher in Salamanca, but they are also currently searching the Sants neighborhood in Barcelona for more suspects, which they suspect worked with Fisher. While the Associated Press did not name Phineas Fisher, in it’s report it stated that a spokesman for Catalonia’s regional police Mossos d’Esquadra revealed that one woman and two men were arrested for hacking the servers of Sindicat De Mossos d’Esquadra (SME) and leaking personal information around 5000 police officers....

One of the two sentenced is Aleksandr Andreevich Panin, 27, from Russia. Panin was known in the cyber crime world by his handle, ‘Gribodemon’ and ‘Harderman.’ Panin was the mastermind behind the malware banking Trojan that allowed cybercriminals to infect millions of computers and drain bank accounts worldwide, has been sentenced to nine and half years in a US federal prison. The US Justice Department said on 20 April that his accomplice, Hamza Bendelladj, 27, from Algeria and known online as Bx1, who sold versions of SpyEye online and used it to steal financial information, was sentenced to 15 years....

According to him, Brennan’s private account held sensitive files including his 47-page application for top-secret security clearance. The hacker told The Post that Brennan knew his emails had hacked. Other e-mails stored in Brennan’s non-government account contained the Social Security numbers and personal information of more than a dozen top American intelligence officials, as well as a government letter about the use of “harsh interrogation techniques” on terrorism suspects, according to the hacker....

This week an informal group of security researchers who call themselves the Digital Freedom Alliance launched a combined software project to aggregate and map out/a> government hackers’ attacks against journalists, lawyers, activists and NGOs around the globe.
