Under his real name Mustafa Al-Bassam, 21, will be working on the company’s technology and services, including its new blockchain research project codenamed ‘Trustery.’ This project aims to create a commercial blockchain platform to enhance the visibility and reliability of online payments. Recently, Google Maps found a car inside a retention pond with a body of a man who went missing in 1997. The missing person in question was 40-year-old William Earl Moldt, who lived in Florida, U.S. and had disappeared since November 8, 1997. The submerged car was found by a man who was looking at his old neighborhood on Google Earth in what appeared to be a vehicle in the pond behind a residence....

Speaking at an event in Pittsburgh, Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai said that the company will be spending $1 billion over the next five years through its charitable arm, Google.org to help non-profit organizations raise education level around the world. The search giant said it will instead migrate remaining content and communities over to Spaces, a dedicated app for organizing people, topics, and projects in Google Workspace that tightly integrates with Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Meet, which was introduced last year. Google has also confirmed bringing new capabilities in Spaces, which include support for larger communities and leadership communication, investments in advanced search, tools for content moderation, and more. The victim, Andy Gregg, a real estate agent in Phoenix, Arizona, said he was in his backyard when he heard a voice speaking to him creepily from inside his home. At first, he thought a burglar had entered his home. However, he soon realized that the voice was coming from his Nest Cam IQ security camera in the front window of his home. The hacker claimed that he was a “white hat” hacker associated with the Anonymous hacktivist group....

Yesterday a group of hackers defaced the JNU website’s central library home page as a mark of protest against “anti-India” sloganeering by one of the university’s student bodies. Apparently, hackers managed to inject Coinhive cryptocurrency-mining code in the U.S. and U.K. government websites that forces web browsers to secretly mine cryptocurrency. As a result, innocent visitors who visited these compromised websites would have their computers and phones commandeered in order to mine cyrptocurrencies for the criminals. According to reports, websites that were infected with virus include those belonging to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Student Loans Company and Scottish NHS helpline among others....

Three hackers were arrested in Romania, while the fourth one was arrested in the Republic of Moldova, after their homes were searched. According to DIICOT, the cybercriminal group of 4 people was formed at the beginning of 2020, who operated online under the name “PentaGuard” to carry out crimes specific to cybercrime. Contrary to what DIICOT said, some members of the PentaGroup have been around since 2000, when they were engaged in website defacement of numerous government and military websites, including Microsoft’s Romanian website....
