Towards the end of last month when security researcher, Joshua Drake, had exposed the details of the Stagefright vulnerability, Google was quick enough to provide the required patches. Various other Android manufacturers and carriers too joined hands to fix the issue on most of the Android devices. Some of them also announced to roll out monthly patches which actually was established as a consequence of the Stagefright bug. However, it seems that patches released by Google were half cooked and fixed in haste....

Recently, Google was fined $4 billion after losing an android antitrust appeal in the EU and this time around India has slapped Google with a $113 million fine for abusing the dominant position of its Google Play Store. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered Google to allow app developers to use third-party payment processing services for in-app purchases or for purchasing apps from the Play Store. Intel Corporation officially announced its new 8th-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 lineup of processors with G-series branding that are aimed to power 2-in-1s, thin and light notebooks and mini PCs at the CES 2018 on Sunday in Las Vegas. Staying true to its promise, Microsoft has reduced the size of quality updates in Windows 11 by 40%. Now, in a blog post, the company has explained how it achieved its goal using the new compression technology. “With the fast pace of Windows security and quality fixes, distributing this large amount of updated content takes up substantial bandwidth. Reducing this network transfer is critical for a great experience. Moreover, users on slower networks can struggle to keep their machines up to date with the latest security fixes if they cannot download the package,” wrote Microsoft software engineer Jonathon Ready in a blog post....
